It’s a big one, people. One we’ve been gearing up and preparing for these past few months. The One where JD and Jeff take you through an auditory feast, to discuss exactly what it is that makes video game soundtracks so memorable, what makes them geek out about them so much, and what makes them stick in your brain so perfectly. Gathered here are twenty-or-so songs, most of them slightly shortened for time, with extensive commentary in-between, that we here at Press Start to Start consider the top of the line. They aren’t ranked in any way, and we definitely had to cut a number that we consider possibly greater than some on the list, but these are the best of the best. If you’re unsure of why we care so much about the music used in video games, or if you’re already a huge fan, please give this super-duper long Music Extravaganza a good listen; we think you’ll enjoy it. Just probably not as much as we did.

chrono trigger?
Crap, did we call it something else?
Oh, we had no Chrono Trigger music! Just figured it out. Um, well, honestly? I’ve only played it for a short time, never got Frog or even Magnus, and I’m dead certain JD never has. I know: we are ashamed. Probably should get it for DS.
